Food Business Development Manager & Lean Business Advisor

John Spillson joined The Center to develop and expand the food program. His experience in operating his own business has given him knowledge in production, sales, food safety, marketing, warehousing and logistics.

Professional Experience
John comes from a long line of entrepreneurs, following both parents and grandparents in operating their own family food businesses. Prior to joining the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center, John owned and operated his own food processing company for more than 20 years. John, along with his father, took an old family recipe for rice pudding and eventually produced a volume exceeding 1,500 pounds and available in five states.
