On Tuesday, May 10, experts from the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (The Center) attended Automation Alley’s Industry 4.0 conference, Integr8. The event brings together technology and manufacturing leaders from around the world to construct the next level of Industry 4.0.

THE PRESENTATIONS
The Center’s Industry 4.0 team presented throughout the day highlighting various aspects of how Industry 4.0 can propel Michigan companies into the future of manufacturing. Here is a recap of what you may have missed.

George Singos, Industry 4.0 Business Leader Advisor, gave an overview of Enhanced Operations Management (EOM) and how it can be used with technology to make systems implementation easier and improve operations.

Robert Scipione, Applications Engineer, explained how to acquire the knowledge necessary to understand the technologies used to achieve interconnectivity of process equipment for data collection, process/product improvement and process control.

Chuck Werner, Manager of Operational Excellence, taught the audience how Industry 4.0 technologies can be used to assist team members in their job performance to improve quality, efficiency and making their jobs easier through Human Machine Interaction.

Next, Michael McGray, Advanced Manufacturing Program Manager, showed what is needed to achieve an understanding of the technologies that have changed the way businesses design, test, manufacture and service products, including an explanation of how a strategic advantage can be found in the application of these advanced manufacturing technologies.

Lastly, The Center’s cyber expert, Jeff Williams, Cybersecurity Program Manager, presented how to overcome the challenges of implementing a cyber-safe program. He explained that to make the process achievable, the company can utilize existing talent and knowledge around traditional manufacturing principles.

SMART TECHNOLOGY ZONE
After each presentation, the audience was directed to partners in The Center’s Smart Technology Zone for interactive technology demonstrations. During the demonstration they got to visualize and learn how these technologies can aid their business growth and help them reach their goals through improved efficiency, quality and more.

The Smart Technology Zone continued to draw attention between presentations. The Center’s experts and partners were able to talk with interested attendees and explain how they can work alongside each other to help clients seamlessly integrate new technology into their business.
