Emerging Leaders in Manufacturing Certification

Offered through Schoolcraft College, and in collaboration with the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (The Center), Emerging Leaders in Manufacturing Certification provides students with the skills needed for success within the world of manufacturing. This five-week, five-course program is open to people new to manufacturing and to those who are looking to grow within the industry.

Training will include:

  • ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR LEADERS. Discover how leadership relates to human behavior, identify your personal leadership style and explore different management styles.
  • QUALITY MANAGEMENT. Participants will learn about the Quality Management System, the over-arching structure for business processes, resources and goals to meet required quality standards through continuous improvement and employee training.
  • LEAN MANUFACTURING. Students will learn Lean principles, the classification and elimination of waste, identification of value and non-value added activities, the adjustment to Lean culture, and gain training in value stream and process mapping.
  • INDUSTRY 4.0. The fourth industrial revolution is crucial to the future of manufacturing. Dive into the nine technology trends and building blocks of Industry 4.0 in this two-session course.
  • HANDS-ON MANUFACTURING & ENGINEERING. To conclude this program, students will take the skills they have learned into a manufacturing environment with a hands-on look at manufacturing equipment and engineering processes. Topics will cover computer aided design, electronics technology, manufacturing equipment and how materials are processed.
