-- Frank Sant, Owner/President-Falcon Lakeside Manufacturing

Falcon Lakeside Manufacturing (www.falconlakeside.com) provides design, development and manufacturing services that include high pressure vacuum die casting, high pressure squeeze casting, CNC machining and other finishing operations. These activities are executed in accordance of TS-16949 procedures and ISO 9001 Standards. Full quality services including metrology, metallurgical and structural testing are provided as a normal course of business. Located in Stevensville, MI, they employ 28 people.

Challenge

Upon purchasing the company, new owner Frank Sant and his executive team identified two critical improvement needs for growth: Become TS 16949 compliant and, in order to access new markets, achieve TS16949 certification. He and Plant Manager Dennis Whitaker reached out to the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center-West to help meet these expectations.

The MMTC-West Business Development Specialist coordinated a free Quality System site assessment as a prerequisite toward the development of the training plan for proposal. This assessment provided the Falcon Lakeside Team the opportunity to customize the MMTC-West training services to align with their strategic targets and the Michigan Works Skilled Trades Training Fund program.
MMTC offered personalized training and tailored class times to the needs of the team and the workload. The training investment in the workforce enhanced the teamwork culture and was embraced by its operators, staff and management.
