The Center has been instrumental in our efforts to build a robust internal auditing system to ensure we continue to meet our high quality standards.
-- Brian Hammond, Vice President
Endurance Carbide (www.endurancecarbide.com) was founded in 1961, shortly after the initial growth of carbide in the late 1950s. Endurance Carbide manufactures precision industrial carbide wear parts for various industries, with a primary focus on carbide punches, dies, gages, bushings, form inserts and form punches. Endurance Carbide employs 30 at their Bridgeport, Mich., facility which was recognized in 2015 as one of Michigan’s 50 Companies to Watch.
Challenge
Endurance Carbide's management sought to expand its teams’ understanding of ISO 9001. After losing a key employee in the quality department, management decided many employees should receive training in quality to ensure they had a cross-functional team.
Solution
Endurance Carbide's leadership sent a total of five employees through ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor training at the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (The Center) - Northeast office in Saginaw. These employees gained a valuable understanding of Endurance Carbide’s Quality Management System and tools for properly maintaining it. This knowledge enabled Endurance Carbide to keep its ISO certification, which has directly resulted in retention and growth with several customer accounts.
