R&M MACHINE TOOL: Quality Standards Support Growth Efforts
The Center has helped us over the years to stay current on the latest ISO 9001 Quality Management System updates. The Center was able to walk us through the steps and help us develop the documentation to pass our audit without issue.

R&M Machine Tool, Inc. (www.rmmachine.com) was founded in 1995 by the Miller family – Ron Miller Sr. and his 3 sons, Ron Miller Jr., Randy Miller and Russ Miller. Ron Jr. took over as sole owner in the early 2000s and grew the company into the success it is today. When Ron Sr. founded R&M, he had the goal of focusing on consistently providing quality products with attentive and reliable customer service. Today, the company is ISO 9001:2015 certified and services OEM, Tier I and Tier II customers in many different industries, including Automotive & Manufacturing, Medical, Prosthetics, Military & Aerospace, Crash Test Dummy and Robotics. R&M employs 40 at their Freeland, Michigan location.
Challenge
Since many industries require ISO certification among suppliers in order to quote on projects, R&M management made the determination that obtaining an updated ISO certification would be best for their organization’s future. After working with Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center in the past to transition to the ISO 9001:2008 standard, R&M reconnected with The Center to transition to the newer ISO 9001:2015 standard.
Solution
Working from the established framework and documentation from their ISO 9001:2008 certification, R&M met with The Center over the span of two months to update their ISO documentation. Ultimately R&M was able to successfully transition to the updated standard, receiving their certification soon after.
