Challenge
As Mac Arthur planned to transition from ISO/TS 16949 to IATF 16949:2016, they recognized the benefit of outside support. Additionally, Mac Arthur was interested in improving supplier development aspects within their quality system. A thorough understanding of these requirements was critical to ensuring a seamless transition from ISO/TS to IATF and to continue providing high quality, cost competitive services to the auto industry.
Solution
Mac Arthur reached out to the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (The Center) - Northeast for assistance in preparing for their quality standard transition. Mentoring provided by The Center included updating their internal auditing requirements, emphasizing the higher degree of reporting mandated under the new standard. As a result of this support, Mac Arthur seamlessly transitioned to IATF 16949:2016 and achieved full certification to meet their automotive and mobility customers’ quality requirements. This automotive-reliant revenue was able to be retained without consequence.
