Robert Lyscas

Chief Operating Officer

Bob Lyscas is the Chief Operating Officer at the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (The Center). He is responsible for overseeing seven direct reports, with departments including manufacturing services, information technology, sales, marketing, human resources, research services and facilities. Bob is dedicated to driving advancements in Michigan manufacturing, leading the effort to assist small to medium-sized manufacturers in applying Industry 4.0 digital manufacturing solutions.

Bob has an extensive history of proven success in the areas of Quality Management, Engineering and Supplier Assessment and Development, with more than 40 years of experience working in the Manufacturing and Quality fields. Bob has experience working directly with the automotive industry for seven years, a government national defense environment for 14 years and more than 19 years as a consultant, coach and trainer to a large, diverse group of Manufacturing and Service companies, including in the Healthcare industry.

Bob maintains current certifications as Certified Manager (CM) through the National Management Association (NMA), Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) through the American Welding Society (AWS), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) through the American Society for Quality (ASQ), Certified IATCA Senior ISO Lead Auditor by the Registrar Accreditation Board (RAB) and IATF 16949 Lead Auditor (Automotive).

Professional Experience
Previously, Bob was the Director of the Lean and Quality Business Solutions programs at The Center. He managed consultants in the delivery of Leadership C-level coaching and mentoring, employee engagement, and training and application of Lean tools and techniques in the administrative support service areas and the manufacturing floor, including: Activity-Based Costing, Six Sigma projects, Product & Process Launch and Supply Chain Management. He has the ability to analyze operational and financial data to capitalize on improvement opportunities that are sustainable. As an Executive Management Team member, Bob participates in The Center’s Board of Directors meetings and works to establish strategic and business planning direction for a staff of 50 employees. Bob also assists four Regional Offices, meeting the federal and state requirements of NIST and the MEDC.

Bob attended Henry Ford Community College, University of Michigan- Dearborn, Coors School of Engineering and the James Madison University.  He has an Associate Degree in Environmental Health & Safety from Government Institutes.

Bob holds several certificates, including a Management Certification from James Madison University, Six Sigma Black Belt from ASQ and multiple certifications from Rockwell International. Bob also is a member of the following organizations:
